Our Story

The seed for Belancik Photography was planted many years before it became a business. John's mother Lydia Belancik would show her family the value of capturing its story and history through photographs. Hundreds of traditional photo albums later, it turned into a digital library with over tens of thousands of images of our lives captured. Till this day, Lydia can always be seen with a camera in her hand, or at least close by.

John took traditional photography courses through his design education at UConn but really picked up the photo "bug" when he and his wife Shannon had their first son Brandon.  It continued as their second son Logan was born. He wanted to capture every moment of them growing up, as his Mom did before him. A lifelong learner, John continued to study photography while his 25+ years in Creative Direction/Graphic Design career blossomed.

As the years went on, and the family digital albums grew larger, John found a passion to help other families and friends capture their moments. It brought him great satisfaction to see the smiles on their faces of the images he captured for them. The common question John would get, do you do this for a living?

Shannon noticed John's excitement and talent early on and became a great proponent of his work, helping him turn his passion into a thriving business..... Belancik Photography.
